Las Colinas Mustangs vs. Somis Hawks Coed Middle School Flag Football Mania

Monday, October 21, 2024

The Las Colinas Middle School Mustangs coed flag football team was back at it today and we were, of course, there.

Record Unknown
at

5 Wins - 1 Loss

Jacob pulling flags in a pre-game drill

The Hawks came out throwing
to start the skirmish

Jacob on Defense vs. the best
Somis player

This pass ricocheted back to the
Hawk on the right who took it
TO THE HOUSE!

Somis goes for one on the PAT

The Mustangs stopped this Somis PAT attempt but trailed the Hawks, 6-0.

Mustangs Kickoff Return

Las Colinas QB breaks contain

As does this Mustangs' RB

She could go . . .

. . . ALL THE WAY!

The Mustangs one-point PAT
attempt was good

The Las Colinas Offense responded as hoped, the Mustangs now led, 7-6.

Could the Mustangs' Defense rebound?

This interception was a resounding,
YES!

Returning that same pick

The blocking on the interception
return set up quite well . . .

. . . but her flag was pulled just
short of the Goal Line

No problem, this inside run scored
another Mustangs TD

End of the First Quarter
Las Colinas Mustangs - 15
Somis Hawks - 6

The Mustangs' Defense went
back to work

Hawks getting to the Edge

Good Mustangs' pursuit was the answer

The Las Colinas Sweep game
continues to reap benefits

CUT BACK!

TOUCHDOWN MUSTANGS!

Las Colinas was seemingly back in control of the game as they upped their lead to 23-6.

Here comes the good Hawk
player once again

Another Mustangs' interception
ended this Hawks' drive

This Las Colinas TD pass reception
was called back due to an illegal block

Time for one more play in
the Second Quarter . . .

. . . that fell incomplete

Halftime Score
Las Colinas Mustangs - 23
Somis Hawks - 6

Three against one does not seem
fair to me at all

Protect your QB at ALL COSTS!

Despite four of the eight Hawks nearby,
this Mustang's pass was complete

Surround that ball big fella!

A new Mustangs' QB with . . .

. . . a pass completion of his own

Is that same Hawk loose again
in the Mustangs' Secondary?

This Somis player's heroics continued as the Third Quarter came to a close.

End of the Third Quarter
Las Colinas Mustangs - 23
Somis Hawks - 6

I'm seen here trading notes with my
fellow reporter who is covering the game
for the Las Colinas School Newspaper

The Hawks go to guy was at
it again both running . . .

. . . and passing the ball

Mustangs' Punt Return . . .

. . . gained good yardage

Jacob on Offense running
an Out Route . . .

. . . he's open . . .

. . . snatched it out of the air . . .

. . . put it away . . .

. . . turned upfield . . .

. . . and had himself . . .

. . . a nice gain!

Final Score
Las Colinas Mustangs (6-1) - 23
Somis Hawks (?-?) - 6

It was a solid win for the Mustangs who next play at home on Thursday against Ventura's De Anza Academy of Technology and the Arts Navigators.

An honor for the Army QB

An honor for this Navy DB

Then there were but ten

We truly enjoy every one of these flag football games and greatly appreciate all of Jacob's hard work in preparing to compete.
