So, what now for the Blue Eleven?

I have been led to believe that after next Saturday's contests, the top eight teams in the final standings will be involved in the post-season action that starts on Saturday, October 19th.

If this information is correct, the Stingers' Blue team has already secured a playoff spot and now just needs a victory, hopefully, over the Saugus Spartans Grey squad to improve their final playoff seeding.

Time for a look at the wacky college and NFL football doings the last few days starting with our two favorite military academies . . .

Army Black Knights (4-0, 3-0 AAC) at
Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (2-3, 0-1 AAC)

Could the dream season continue atop the American Athletic Conference standings for the men from New York's Hudson Valley?

YOU BETCHA and in DOMINANT fashion!

Army (5-0, 4-0 AAC) - 49
Tulsa (2-4, 0-2 AAC) - 7

With Missouri's 41-10 loss to Texas A&M,
Army has the longest active win streak in the
NCAA's FBS at nine over the last two seasons

Could Navy keep pace with Army in the first 2024 game to determine the Commander-in-Chief Trophy winner?

Navy Midshipmen (4-0, 2-0 AAC) at
Air Force Falcons (1-3, 0-2 Mountain West)

Another W for Navy!

Navy (5-0, 2-0 AAC) - 34
Air Force (1-4, 0-2 MWC) - 7

Then there were twelve and
Army and Navy are two of them!

The Huskies (3-2, 1-1 BIG-10) had an
all-important BIG-10 game against
#10 Michigan (4-1, 2-0 BIG-10)

Of course, these two universities met last January in Houston, Texas in the National Championship Game which the Wolverines won handily, 34-13.

A great Second Half by Washington
to bring home a win in Seattle

Washington (4-2, 2-1 BIG-10) - 27
Michigan (4-2, 2-1 BIG-10) - 17

And then there was this . . .

. . . amazing, wacky college football!

Awesome indeed!

Army and Navy are still in the
run for the Group of Five's one
guaranteed playoff spot

There is only one Group of Five conference member in the week's AP Top 25 Poll with the Mountain West Conference 's Boise State Broncos (4-1, 1-0 MWC) at #17.

Here are the teams vying for that one guaranteed playoff spot that goes to the highest ranked Group of Five team with each conference's teams with the best overall records:

American Athletic Conference
Army (5-0) and Navy (5-0)

Conference USA
Liberty (4-0)

Mid-American Conference
Eastern Michigan (4-1) and Toledo (4-1)

Mountain West Conference
Boise State (4-1), San Jose State (4-1)
and UNLV (4-1)

Sun Belt Conference
Coastal Carolina (4-1), James Madison (4-1),
Louisiana (4-1) and Louisiana-Monroe (4-1)

Good for Army but we
need some Navy love as well

On to another Sunday of Los Angeles Rams NFL football . . .

The Green Bay Packers (2-2) travelled to
SoFi Stadium to play the Rams (1-3)

Packers Bart Starr holding and Jerry Kramer
toe punching with Rams' Marlin McKeever
and Merlin Olsen trying to . . .
"BLOCK THAT KICK!"

This photo was not from Sunday's game.

NUTS!

Green Bay Packers (3-2) - 24
Los Angeles Rams (1-4) - 19

The San Diego Padres were in town
to play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the
National League Divisional Series

Over the last five or so years, the rivalry between these two Southern California clubs has become heated to volcanic proportions.

The two teams split their first two NLDS games of the best of five series.

On Saturday, it was Los Angeles winning 7-5.

San Diego squared the series at 1-1 with a dominant 10-2 romp on Sunday.

The NLDS resumes on Tuesday in San Diego.

Odds and ends from the net . . .

The Ted Lasso show is simply
THE BEST!

Now, here's a playoff bracket
that I could get into!

It encapsulates my love for the challenge that is eating Mexican food.

On Monday, I had to run an errand in Santa Paula which has a plethora of Mexican restaurants.

I needed a good hole-in-the-wall dining spot for lunch.

I may have found this in this small
strip mall on a Santa Paula side street

It looked promising from the outside . . .

. . . and had PERFECT ambience inside

The waitress was tan amable and the beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas were excellent which I assigned a Level 4 Antacids ranking.

If you are in the area drop by at:
Taqueria 3 Estrellas
125 Dean Drive
Santa Paula, CA 93060
(805) 933-5020

I really do need to read more
of these banned books

Coming to the Santa Paula
Theater Center next month

A chance to take Laurie to the Taqueria 3 Estrellas for a dazzling dinner and drinks before the play!
