A Much Needed Day of Rest

Saturday, 16 June, 2018

After an incredibly hectic week, we opted to stay at home for a day.

It allowed me to catch up on some blog posting where I was about three days behind. I also spent some Me Time reading which I enjoyed tremendously.

Laurie opted to do some laundry but still took some time to go outside in the Villa Skorpion garden and . . .

 . . . smell . . .

. . . the flowers

Today also marked the start of our packing plans for our return trip to California.

We have agreed in principle to return to Varese next year with only the final details pertaining to my daily gelato budget still being fiercely argued by my agent Laurie Maguire and the Skorpions Representative Enzo Petrillo.

This second season of Skorpions football has also changed our packing strategy a bit as we will be leaving a lot of our winter clothes behind as well as all of the household goods and products that we purchased.

At least we have begun the process.

U16 and U19 Practices
start up in earnest next Tuesday

Our two full contact youth teams that play nine-man football will start playing games in September.

We will be practicing at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays during the Summer months.

We are still hoping to be able to get away for a few days before returning to Camarillo in July.

Today was the beginning of Italy's DII American football quarter-finals games.

The DII Playoff Brackets
before the start of today's games

Three of the quarter-final games were played today, the fourth game will take place on Sunday night.

The #1 seeded Padova Saints (9-0)
cruised past the #9 Verona Mastini (6-4)

In a mild upset, the #5 Roma Pretoriani (9-1)
edged the #4 Reggio Emilia Hogs (7-2)

Thus one semi-final match-up next weekend will feature the #1 ranked Padova Saints (9-0) hosting the #5 Roma Pretoriani (9-1)

The #2 Bologna Warriors (9-0)
manhandled the #7 Verona Vipers (7-3)

The Vipers were the team that beat us in Overtime 40-33 last weekend.

The Warriors will host the winner of Sunday's final quarter-final game in the other semi-final contest next weekend.

Sunday's last quarter-final game is
the #6 Martesana Daemons (6-3) at
the #3 Busto Arsizio Blue Storms (8-0)

The winner of this game travels to Bologna to play the #2 seeded Bologna Warriors (9-0).

In the evening, wine and a pizza
at Venegono Superiore's
Il Museo della Pizza was the
appropriate call

Batteries fully re-chargred, we are ready for whatever Sunday brings our way.

Never mind the gelato budget — how much is Laurie negotiating for searching for George Clooney?

I estimate it at 2/3s of my salary going towards the search for Clooney.
