"Big Wheel Keeps On Turning . . ."

Wednesday, 18 May, 2016:

Much like the movie Groundhogs Day, life here just keeps repeating itself day after day.

7:45 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Team practice at Söderviksmolan preparing for the Big Game against Runbyskolan in two weeks.

Throwing and . . .

. . . Catching

Tackling

Typical Tackling Drill

Reading a Block Drill

Nothing new to see here, let's keep moving on to . . .

2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Two P.E. classes to instruct in the rudiments of American football and an overlapping practice with Runbyskolan's team school in preparation for the Big Game in two weeks.

I would have never made it through these two hours with out the help of five Warrior current and former players who are older students at Runbyskolan and were willing to coach the kids.

 P.E. class action

That NG looks suspicious to me

That ball draws a crowd
doesn't it

BALL!

Run to . . .

. . . the ball!!!

The P.E. classes were GREAT today!

U13 Tryouts

A lot of what I am doing with my school visits this week is trying to come up with about ten new players for our U13 team.

The next two nights of tryouts would show how close we were to our goal.

Tackling

And More Tackling

Eight New U13s Tried Out Today

This was a good first day of tryout! We actually had ten show up tonight but two young ladies decided quickly that American football was not for them.

That is OK.

After the tryouts, Board Member Aiki invited me to her home again for dinner and to meet her partner Janne. Talk about a fun couple.

Janne and I will travel together to Stockholm on Sunday to watch hometown Djurgården D.I.F. battle Helsingborgs IF in a Swedish Allsvenskan fotboll match at the Tele2 Arena.

D.I.F. is currently in 12th place while Helsingborgs IF is in 8th place in Sweden's top league composed of 16 teams.

After a great dinner, I had to hurry home to call two players from La Verne University who are interested in playing more American football overseas now that their college careers are over.

 LB Anthony Arquello

 RB Travis Sparks-Jackson

I had good conversations with both of them, EuroBall teams take note!

 Wäsby Warriors Spring Party
this Saturday

Aiki has big plans for this event, BE THERE!!!

Reading Is FUNdamental

If you are a fan of Scandinavian crime writing, (see Larsson, Mankell and Nesbø) then you will love this fun anthology of 14 Finnish crime short stories from some of Helsinki's sickest minds.

The authors have great Finnish first names like Pekka, Leena, Riikka, Tapani, Teemu, Jarkko, Jukka, Tuomas, Karo and  Antti.

A great read if you ask me!

Are those Finnish first names or this year's sofa offerings at IKEA?

Some are both I think.
