Prelude to Wild Card Playoff Game Day

Saturday, 2 May, 2015:

As followers of this blog already know, we play our LNFA Serie B Wild Card Playoff game tonight in Murcia at Campo Barnes at 5:00 p.m. vs. the Las Rozas Black Demons.

I've always felt that a good night's rest before a big game is part of the proper preparation needed for a winning effort.

Enter the Estrella Levante SOS 4.8 Music Festival in Murcia.

 Alternative Rock Concert
May 1 & 2, 2015

We knew of this event for weeks but we were not aware of the magnitude of it.

When riding the bus to and from El Barrio del Carmen yesterday to meet Rosa, Oscar and Alberto for lunch, we twice drove past the Festival's site less than a mile from La Hacienda.

We saw many Festival goers milling around the Festival facility, most of them with beer cans in tow. Nothing that we did not expect on a warm night with a multi-band rock concert sponsored by Murcia's favorite beer company.

Did I mention that it was
an OUTDOOR concert?

The music was LOUD and could easily be heard all over the La Flota area where we live when we went out for some frozen yogurt last night at about 9:00 p.m.

When we went to bed at 11:00 p.m., they were still rocking but I figured that as loud as they are, there must be some kind of anti-noise ordinance that would halt the concert at, say, midnight.

Boy was I wrong!

As I write this, it is 6:30 a.m. and they are still going strong having never stopped playing all night long.

So much for a good night's rest before a big game.

And we are going to repeat this whole thing again tonight I suspect in Day II of the Festival.

So, what to do?

I opted to go for a brisk, 45 minute walk towards the Festival site, the music had finally stopped at 7:00 a.m., to get some exercise.

As a bonus I got to see a whole bunch of Walking Dead types leaving the Festival grounds but still drinking their beers and, in the case of one young girl, barfing on a bridge over the Río Segura while her four friends urged her on to greatness.

 Always interesting suspension

 This really works?

More reflections

And so started our Wild Card Game Day . . .
