A GLORIOUS Weekend in Paradise

Fri.-Sun., October 8-10, 2021

If you just need to relax and unwind, then Maui is the place for you!

To borrow the city motto from Bakersfield, California, Maui is truly the spot if you are seeking "Sun, Fun, Stay, Play."

And don't forget the cuisine . . .

Like this wonderful cafe in Kihei

A breakfast consisting of one of their HEC (Ham, Egg and Cheese) and a stack of Ube pancakes is simply a perfect way to start your day.

As is sometime time at the
beach near the Johnson's Condo

In Paia, they have this nice ice
cream shop next to the Cafe Mambo
where we had a late lunch

One scoop of your Peanut Butter
Chocolate Chip ice cream, please

Mahalo!

Paia would be a perfect place to
learn how to play the Ukulele

In Paia we saw this contraption
but had NO IDEA as to its function

Did I mention that I have never
eaten an ounce of Hawaii's favorite
meat by-product, Spam?

Susie made us all Spam and eggs for breakfast. I liked the Spam as it turned out.

At the Kaanapali Westin Resort

We went there to meet up with Gene and Connie Scibelli who had recently arrived to start their vacation from the harsh Oregon weather at this time of year.

Gene and Mark Johnson went to Tumwater H.S. together in the mid-1960s.

The view from the Scibelli's lanai

It was Sunday and the six of us drove over to nearby, artsy Lahaina for a seaside lunch at Kimo's.

The view from Lahaina's
waterfront sidewalk

Two ancient mates in Lahaina

A street side easel ready
for a bold new day

As I said, Lahaina is an artsy community.

Mark and Susie before the
fish and chips arrived at Kimo's

Mark saved room for Kimo's
famed dessert, Hula Pie

After a solid lunch, and yes, Mark did share his Hula Pie, we needed to visit a few of Lahaina's seaside shops to support the local economy.

Another artist's working in oils

Lahaina's Front Street is
right on the water

The Banyan tree is Lahaina's
perfect shady area on a warm day

Viewing Sunday's sunset was a
nice way to end a relaxing,
glorious weekend

ALOHA!
