What Else, Some Football and a Trip to the Santa Paula DMV

Tues.-Thurs., June 14-16, 2022

We start this post with a feel good story, at least for me, about our ongoing 12 year project of getting quality, used American football gear to teams throughout the globe in order to help the game grow.

You may recall a post from a few weeks ago about the Apodaca Nuevo Leon Ducks in Mexico whose equipment shed spontaneously burst into flames one fine afternoon.

The Ducks lost EVERYTHING
they owned on that sad day!

To the rescue came high school football coaches Ryan Bolland, Dustin Croick, Dean Herrington and Mark Servé. They donated a total of 246 pants and 2 shoulder pads to help the Ducks get back on their feet.

This week, the Ducks received the first two of four boxes that we have shipped them and Mexico's American football Facebook website, Tercera y Una, went to the Ducks practice field to be there when the Ducks' coaches and players got their first look at their new pants.

I know that this video is all in Spanish which will be iffy for some of you but I think that you will still be able to get a sense of what these pants meant to the Ducks. This is a link to the Tercera y Una's video of the scene:

Speaking of the overall effect
of our giveaway program . . .

Earlier this year, Israel's Ramat Hasharon Hammers also received some pants from us.

I'm sure that these new pants were the main reason for the Hammers 11-0 record and the club's first ever appearance in the Israeli National Championship Game, Israbowl XV!

On Tuesday night, I joined Michael
for Jacob's second Pop Warner practice

Jacob is a proud member of the new Camarillo Stingers, formerly known as the Camarillo Cougars.

It was fun to watch him and his new teammates trying to figure things out about this crazy sport called American Football.

A big game for our old club,
the Thun Tigers, this Sunday

I'm not sure how the Tigers U19s are doing but the 5-3 Senior Tigers who are playing in Switzerland's top circuit, the Nationalliga A, are hosting the high flying, undefeated Bern Grizzlies (8-0) on Sunday. The Tigers are currently tied for third place in the league with the Basel Gladiators (5-3) behind the Grizzlies and the Calanda Broncos (7-2).

The Grizzlies won the first contest between these two clubs back on April 24th by a score of 24-7.

A BIG European League of Football
game this Saturday in Spain

Both the Barcelona Dragons and the Cologne Centurions are 2-0.

The Dragons know how to put
on a GREAT pre-game fiesta
before their home opener

The ELF's latest Power Rankings

The big Barcelona win over the Hamburg Sea Devils, 24-21, catapulted the Dragons up five spots the number Four over last week's list.

"WE'RE #4! WE'RE #4!"

The Centurions jumped up three spots after their 49-46 win against the Tirol Raiders to number Five.

It should be a BEAUTIFUL day for American football in Barcelona on Saturday.

Now for the mundane . . .

Driver's License renewal and
a Real ID card

I was out of the house early this morning for the drive to the Santa Paula DMV Office. I always go to this location because of the lack of people trying to get things processed through the DMV.

Fortunately, most of the usual hassle of dealing with the DMV has been taken care of due to their website being able to handle ever so much from the ease and comfort of home before physically arriving at the DMV.

I was in and out of the DMV in under 15 minutes thanks to their on-line process.

AWESOME!

It was now about 8:50 a.m. and I was hungry. Time for my Yelp App to find me Santa Paula's finest breakfast spot.

It was located at the Santa Paula Airport

The Flight 126 Cafe was GREAT!

I think that Jacob for sure and
perhaps Mary might like this
museum next to the Flight 126 Cafe

It's only open for four hours,
one day a month

This will take some serious planning.

Finally . . .

The Dodgers swept the two game
Freeway Series with the Angels
this week, 2-0 and 4-1
