A Week Chock-Full of Grandkids Activities

Fri.-Mon., June 17-20, 2022

It was a busy and decidedly fun weekend attending vastly different activities for our grandkids, Jacob and Mary.

For Jacob, it was another
Camarillo Stingers football practice

That's Jacob using his massive
physique at Center

The fact that he is the only player who can consistently perform a good shotgun snap had a lot to do with this roster move.

Hopefully it is only temporary as he really wants to be a WR.

When I asked him about playing Center, he gave the answer that I hoped to hear, "I liked it."

Notice the new Center's
Hand Punch on an unsuspecting
blitzing LB

Jacob on the left, he has lots of work
to do on his footwork

Feet before hands, Jacob.

On Saturday, Mary had her Dance Recital
at Camarillo's Rancho Campana H.S.

She would be performing as
part of her ballet class

She said that she was READY!

We were excited to see her dance

RCHS has a marvelous
auditorium, perfect for the recital

Mary was part of Dance #5 of 19 dances

She and her classmates would be dancing to the music of "Strange Things are Happening to Me" as part of the Toy Story movie themed day of dance.

Mary is the one that starts
on the far left of this dance

Flowers for the Ballerina

She was greatly improved over her last recital a few months ago in my opinion.

Mary and Jacob

She is easily our
favorite granddaughter

Mary with Michael and Vanessa

All sorts of Mary's
proud kin were in the house

After the recital, we all changed
and watched the Men's College
World Series on TV

Mary was really into the game.

This Arkansas Razorbacks'
relief pitcher has, by far, the
BEST name in the MCWS

We took Mary for a walk
on a warm day

Thus her stop in the shade.

Now, let's move on to the international world of American football . . .

The Cairo Hell Hounds of the
Egyptian Federation of American Football

David Lassen and I both think that Hell Hounds is the best nickname in all of American football.

The Barcelona Dragons won AGAIN!

Our favorite team is easily the surprise team of the European League of Football so far this season with a 3-0 record. During the ELF's inaugural 2021 season, the Dragons were 3-7.

This season's 3-0 record is even more glossy when you understand that it really stands for Dragons 3 - Germany 0.

Germany has, for years, been considered to have the best and deepest set of teams in all of Europe.

Spain, not so much.

The pride of the Bron-Villeurbanne
Falcons Junior Team years ago
did it again this weekend

According to Julien Urgenti, several of his former teammates with the Falcons travelled from Lyon to Barcelona to see Antoni play.

He did not disappoint his French fan base.

Here are all of the ELF's
week #3 results and the
latest Conference standings . . .

Leading the way at 2-1 are the
Hamburg Sea Devils and
Wroclaw Panthers

Vienna Vikings at 3-0

The Rhein Fire and Barcelona dragons
tied at 3-0

These two undefeated clubs face off in Germany this coming weekend. It is the Dragons third trip to Germany in the first month of the campaign.

Only three left after three weeks

The ELF's Week #4 schedule for the coming weekend:
Barcelona Dragons (3-0) at Rhein Fire (3-0)
Vienna Vikings (3-0) at Istanbul Rams (0-3)

Hamburg Sea Devils (2-1) at Wroclaw Panthers (2-1)
Leipzig Kings (0-3) at Berlin thunder (1-2)

Tirol Raiders (1-2) at Stuttgart Surge (0-3)
Frankfort Galaxy (1-2) at Cologne Centurions (2-1)

Our old Swiss club, the Thun Tigers,
ran into a buzz saw over the weekend

The Bern Grizzlies, at 9-0, are alone in the seven team Nationalliga A, Switzerland's top circuit.

The Tigers fall to 5-4 and are now in fourth place in the Nationalliga A.

The Italian DII Championship Game
is set for next Saturday

The Varese Skorpions (7-1) will take on
the Bergamo Lions (7-1) for the title in
a game to be played on neutral turf
in Milano

These two clubs are from the same conference, Girone B, where they split their two regular season contests.

The Lions won the first game 31-28 played in Varese.

The Skorpions got a measure of revenge by beating the Lions 20-7 in Bergamo to end the regular season.

It should be a BEAUTIFUL day for American football on Saturday in Milano.

Coach Nick Holt continues to do an excellent job getting the Skorpions to perform at the highest level every week over the last two years, leading the Skorpions combined record of 14wins and only two losses during that span. Those lone two losses were each by just a field goal.

Go Skorpions GO!

Thoughts from the net this weekend . . .

Absolutely TRUE!

Unfortunately TRUE!

Sadly TRUE!

I can't argue against this billboard

I saw this sign near LAX while dropping some friends off at the airport.

Reading Is FUNdamental!

Too much about French cuisine and
little serious crimes  that Bruno usually
has to deal with in this one for my blood

This is when reading is NOT so
much FUN . . .
