The day started off on a bit of a sad note as we bade a fond adieu to the Johnson's youngest daughter Mallory and her friend Sarah who were both heading back to Seattle for their final month as University of Washington undergrads.
After dropping them off at Maui's Kahului Airport in time for their 8:00 a.m. flight, we returned in time for another of the forced field marches that Mark is encouraging to take in an attempt to whip me back into some semblance of my old fighting shape.
It was a BEAUTIFUL morning to trek
the desired 10,000 daily steps
Danger lurked along the shore
as I walked
I could get used to this
These seaside walks
are not for the weak!
Serene
Lava rock formations are
a must in these parts
The lava rocks simply add
to the ambience
10,000 steps are mentally
easier with views like this
After a good walk,
sustenance is a MUST!
This is just the spot for some
solid breakfast options in Kihei
Their HEC (Ham, Egg, Cheese) sandwich on a rich brioche roll was a tremendous value that I highly recommend.
As good as the HEC sandwich was, their Ube pancakes were INCREDIBLE!!!
We split the three pancake stack
four ways and made a sacred oath
to return again soon
Yellow trees are epic on Maui
In the afternoon we continued
walking only now we were
in the village of Lahaina
Lahaina also has fine vistas
I had high hopes but found
nothing to my liking
Another Lahaina view but it
was getting close to dinner time
Frida's in Lahaina fit the bill
for some good Mexican food
Desi, our outgoing, fun loving Bulgarian waitress, made our dining experience all that much better.
The view from our table
was a good one
Men's Restroom this way
Women's Restroom that way
The eye catching name of my
local beer of choice today
The Sun starting to set
on yet another good day
It was hard to see Laurie in
her new top against Frida's
equally green leafed wallpaper
It must again be said,
Maui is GREAT for the soul!
