Since we all know that idle hands are the devil's work, I gladly joined Giorgio and Raffi Nardi for an early morning cleaning out and sorting of the Skorpions history holding shipping container.
Who knew what extraordinary items we would find buried under years of equipment acquisitions.
We were greeted by ice in
the Skorpion Field parking lot
The temperature gauge in Giorgio's car said that it was a balmy 2°C/35.6F as we started toiling.
Skorpion Field was frosted over
when we started cleaning out our
storage container
We knew that we had lots
of good equipment and we found
out that we would also have quite a few
"What the heck is that doing here?"
moments as well
After three good hours of sorting, evaluating, keeping and tossing, we had ourselves a much better organized and efficient storage space.
At least until after the players put things back after our next practice at Skorpion Field.
Giorgio had to run a couple of errands on the way home, the first stop was at a key and lock emporium.
I love these old school blank keys
waiting to be made usable
We had these types of keys for our apartment in Hässleholm, Sweden when we coached the Hurricanes back in 2010.
Wow, it's been a decade since that fun experience in the frozen tundra of southern Sweden which is also known as Skåne. How the time has flown.
Our second stop was at the Macelleria Tonino to purchase items for tonight's dinner at Casa Nardi.
The carpaccino in the back
is made to be eaten raw
It is delicious and I'm still alive.
The great thing about shopping at the
Macelleria Tonino on Saturdays is
there offering the customers samples
of their bread, cheese and Prosecco
while we wait
That chocolate covered cheese on the left was AMAZING!
The cappuccino that I had for lunch
was even better with the addition
of some balsamic vinegar glaze
In the evening, I joined the Caprioli family (Pietro, Stefania and Carlotta) for one of Giorgio Nardi's epic home cooked meals at Casa Nardi.
The polenta was perfect
on a cold night
Especially with some sweet gorgonzola cheese melting on top of a mountain of the polenta.
Giorgio also made a meat dish that was equally delicious and akin to a pot roast in consistency.
The best things about EuroBall
are the memories of these shared
meals with friends
This wine was an EXCELLENT
pairing with our meal
Over the past two years I have yet to leave the Nardi's table not being fully satisfied and in awe of what happens there during a typical Saturday night, three and a half hour dining experience.
Meanwhile, in Carson, California . . .
Mike and Jacob went to the
new XFL Los Angeles Wildcats
Block Party
The Los Angeles Wildcats wanted to meet and greet their fans for the first time.
Since Mike and Jacob already have tickets to the Wildcats first home game on February 16th vs. the Dallas Renegades, they attended the gala event.
Of course, Jacob has a photo
op with the cheerleaders
Interesting Wildcat helmet
Wildcats players meeting and
greeting Jacob
It looks like we all had a good day today.
