More School, More Football

Thursday, 6 February, 2020

We start today's blogpost with some non-Skorpions related news . . .

Young Jacob Contreras
will be a Yankee this coming
Camarillo baseball season

One of my all-time favorite
players in all of Europe who
was a key member of our 2013
DIII French National Championship
Bron-Villeurbane Falcons team . . .

. . . will now be playing for the French
powerhouse Thonen Black Panthers
along with another of our best players
and coaches, this time from
the Europe Warriors, none other than
Honza Rauš

Jan?

The Black Panthers made two great acquisitions in my opinion both as players but more importantly as men of character.

One last day teaching American
Football 101 at the Art School

The teacher that we are working with, Alessandra, gave me a ride at 7:15 a.m. which made my commute to school much easier today.

Since we arrived about 15 minutes before school started, I took the time to peruse some of the student art on display.

Ah, Venice . . .

Blood oranges on the right?

Husky colors

Eerie tree coming to life

Amazing detail . . .

8:00 a.m. was early but
these kids gave us an honest effort

The 9:00 a.m. class was equally
attentive and ready to roll

Since the 10:00 a.m. class was the
only one to repeat with us this week
there was no need for a class photo
so here is a photo from our game

The Green Machine won 6-0 on an early Pick-6!

More intense action from Period 3

The 11:00 a.m. class completed
a great week at this school

It was nice to meet so many talented and polite young people at this high school level Art Academy in Venegono Inferiore.

Next week we will be taking our program to an elementary school in Vedano Olona.

At the age of next week's students,  it may be like trying to nail jello to a wall.

We'll see . . .

On the bus ride home, this

via credit card

It is a wonderful idea, but as the sign says, they are still trying to make the system work.

Just like they were last year.

And the year before that.

Some things in Varese are just so Italian.

Our turnout tonight was in the low 30s but we made good strides in understanding our continued playbook tweaks.

Anybody up for a U19 Europe Warriors
game in Istanbul this Summer?
