It's Elementary, My Dear Dario . . .

Monday, 10 February, 2020

I went out for a walk in the morning through the usual haunts in Varese.

The Old World charm
of a pedestrian walkway

An Art Nouveau poster for our local
brewery in a caffè where I had my
morning cappuccino and brioche

Please note my beloved basilica bell tower high over Varese in the background.

Hey, the Globetrotters will
be in Varese on March 13th

 Wild hair day

I see this random man in his lime
sherbet green jacket all over Varese

I definitely needed to re-stock my
Lavazza a Modo Mio
coffee machine capsules

I purchased three, 16 capsule packages of three of my favorite flavors . . . Crème Brûlée, Cappuccino and Biscottino.

Reflections at a bus stop

In the afternoon, it was back to school to teach American flag football basics yet again.

Our new project is with students at an elementary school in Vedano Olona near Skorpion Field.

Across the small park from the elementary school is what I would call a junior high school with a gym that we will be allowed to use for our two, one hour classes the next few Mondays.

As opposed to last week's teaching marathon at the Art H.S., we would only be coming to this new project one day a week on Mondays.

Today was the first of 18 days of these sessions over the next three months with Fourth and Fifth graders.

Physical Education at the JHS

Lorenza is the teacher of our first
Fifth Grade class and our program's
organizer at the elementary school

spiral for the first time

It's a work in progress . . .

Running a Fly route

So close to greatness . . .

 Lorenza's class was a treat!

Love the kid on the left striking a 1950s QB pose for the camera.

Get that elbow up a bit

Our second Fifth Grade class
was attentive and seemed to enjoy
our lesson and drills

The tall kid on the right with the
beard is Dario A'Delfio

Though young at heart, Dario is definitely not a Fifth Grader.

He is our Skorpions Prima Squadra DB Coach and the Head Coach of our Skorpions Women's flag team.

I have been helping him at all of these classes over the last two weeks.

Working with Fifth Graders
can be so draining!

Meanwhile, back on the Europe Warriors front . . .

A U19 Istanbul game recruiting poster
from our Propaganda Machine

This game, against the Turkish National U19 Team, will take place on June 28th.

Depending on how our Skorpion season progresses, I may or may not be able to make this game. June is, after all, the prime Italian DII playoff month.

The first poster about our
Europe Warriors Women team's
game against a USA all-star team
to be played near Barcelona
on December 6th

This recruiting poster was produced by the American team that the Warriors will be hosting in Spain.

It was a good day.
