Busy Friday and Saturday Social Calendar

The weekend was upon us and we had many things on our agenda.

First up, buy a new battery for our video recorder in order to do a better job filming our game on Sunday. If you recall, when Laurie and I went to Nantes last weekend to video scout the Northern Conference game, the fully charged battery died mid-way through the third quarter.

After four unsuccessful stops at various photography, camera and/or department stores, we finally found a 140 minute battery for 99 Euros that should fit our needs.

 Fountain Nymph

We found this recently rejuvenated statue on our battery shopping expedition.

A Cool Turtle Too

Laurie's Newest Credo

No, she did NOT buy one of these

In the evening we were invited to the home of Alain and Cathy Pffaf for a wonderful evening with their daughter Stephanie, her husband Sam and their four delightful children Tristan, Liam, Adon and Flynn. John and Robin were there as well and we ate, drank wine, swapped stories and just enjoyed life in France to the fullest one more time.

Saturday we started the day by accepting an invitation to a working lunch at the home of Jeanne Urgenti.

 Jeanne

Jeanne's parents, Julien and Chrystel were also there.

Cousin Harris' Cousin?

After a sumptuous lunch featuring two kilos of veal in a fantastic wine sauce, we opted to go for a walk on the 1st of June to work off some calories.

It rained.

Cherry Tree Blooming

Taylor and Charlotte got married today

Tons of rose petals greeted us on the steps of the Hôtel de Ville, a.k.a, the City Hall for this couple, none of us knew.

In the evening we headed over to the Damboise home in Écully to visit Jean Charles, Marianne and their daughter Lucie.  Lucie leaves next Tuesday to start her Summer of living in Southern California where she will immerse herself in the American version of the the English language and culture.

Good People

As always, the Damboises were great hosts and we ended the social part of the weekend on a high note to be sure!

Now, it's time for business . . .

Southern Conference Championship

At about 3:00 p.m. today it was confirmed that our bus to the stadium in Toulouse will depart at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday for the 2:00 p.m. kickoff.

YIKES!!!

This will be an epic contest as two 10-0 teams battle it out in predicted sunny, 70º weather for the right to host the 9-0 Tours Pionniers on June 9th in the French Division III National Championship Game.

It should be a GREAT day for an American football game!!!
