Another Rainy Day in Thun

SWISS-FACT-OF-THE-DAY

Switzerland has four official languages. They are German, French, Italian and Romansh.

After a great deal of research, I have learned that none of these tongues has an equivalent for the English word "Summer."

On Monday, July 2, 2012 it rained again in Thun.

All.

Day.

Long.

GO LONG!!!

I attended my last U-16 practice tonight as we have been invited to Senior team WR/DB and Special Teams coach Martin Zurbrügg's home for an American Fourth of July BBQ on Wednesday.

The U-16 team has been practicing two nights a week since before my arrival in Thun last February even though they don't have their first game until late August.

After this coming Wednesday's practice, they will take a month long break before gearing up again in August.

Michael Spring

I've mentioned Michael before as being my favorite Tiger. He has the most passion for the game of any Thun player on any of our teams.

Though a U-16 player, he is old enough to play on the U-19 team where he was a starting OLB on our 8-2 team.

Because both the U-16 and U-19 teams practice on Mondays, it meant the possibility of a two-a-day practice for the half dozen Tiger cubs that also play on both teams. This practice situation was made even harder since on most Sundays the U-19s had played a game and were usually a bit sore from the contest.

While many players missed Monday practices, Michael did not. He would attend both practices with a smile on his face and effort in his heart.

It was indeed a rare day when he was not at practice.

GREAT KID!!!

It's Official

Laurie and I are going to take the train to Varese, Italy to see our old friends, the Catania Elephants, win their first ever Division I Italian Football League Super Bowl title this Saturday.
