FINALLY, the Quiet Day My Body Needed

Friday, February 14, 2025

Happy Valentine's Day, if you believe in that sort of thing.

I took a much more relaxed approach to my strolling today after two consecutive long days of forced field march style walking.

The big deal today was two fold, final preparations for our Osos Rivas game tomorrow and dealing with Iberia Airlines.

Our flights home in April will be
on Iberian Airlines planes

When I recently bought Laurie's tickets to make her March trip to Gijón, mirroring the same routes that I had taken and will take home, I found a problem.

Back in December I had paid Iberia a total of 86€ to secure my seats for the two flights home in leggy comfort. When I selected Laurie's seats for the return trip, I realized that my seat on the Oviedo to Madrid flight was mysteriously open.

Further investigation led me to see that Iberia no longer had me on that flight at all.

After great effort and more than a little frustration by the wonderful travel agent who originally booked my flight, we got the same line from two different Iberia agents.

The problem occurred because Iberia changed the flight number of the flight. The new flight number is still for the same route, leaving and arriving at the same time as the old flight number.

We were told that, even though we showed them the Iberia receipt for the seat purchases, we would still have to cancel my seats for BOTH my flights home and then re-purchase them.

What?

Go with the flow . . .

I had a GREAT menu lunch special
at Casa Toni to relieve the stress

The stuffed peppers were GOOD!

During the Spanish Civil War, that
church on the left was used as a prison

During a Fascist bombing raid on August 14, 1936, fifty people were killed in Gijón.

In reprisal, 63 prisoners held in this church were summarily executed.

Such is life and death in a Civil War.

A nice doorway on the way home

This about sums up the attitude
today for all of us who celebrate
Ground Hog Day instead

At 9:00 p.m., we had a solid walk-through practice with good mental focus on the part of the team.
