The Flight Home From Cagliari and 5 1/2 Hours of Skorpions Football Practices

Tuesday, 15 May, 2018

It was time to say "arrivederci" to Cagliari after a fun weekend enjoying the city's culture and cuisine.

It was a Tuesday after all which meant a full evening of Skorpion practices from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

We definitely would like to return at some future date for a longer, and hopefully sunnier, period of time to explore Sardinia's many wonders.

We had a mid-day EasyJet flight back to Milano Malpensa Airport so we had a little time in the morning to pack and have one last café and cornetto.

Airport and we were good to go

Laurie might have had wine, I can't recall for sure.

The entire airport experience both in Cagliari and Milano went smoothly. Our shuttle van back to our car in one of Malpensa Airport's numerous long term parking lots whisked us back in no time. We also had a traffic free commute back to the Villa Skorpion with plenty of time before the start of our three practice sessions tonight.

At 5:00 p.m. we had a solid 7-on-7 type of U19 practice. This group will play a 9-man, full contact schedule in the Fall but we will not don the pads until the end of the Flag season for many of these players in about three weeks.

At 6:30 p.m. all three (U13, U15 and U17) Flag teams started their final tune-up week before this coming Sunday's big Flag football tournament at Skorpion Field.

Senior Team pre-practice
Specialty Period

We spend a lot of time on our Special Teams and the individual techniques that go into Special Teams play. Besides our daily 15 minutes of pre-practice specialties seen in part here, we also devote the first 15 or 20 minutes of each workout to Special Teams play.

I am happy to report that all of this attention to improving Special Teams performance has paid off throughout our season.

As for our Senior Team practice tonight, let's just say that we have had better Tuesday practices in the past and leave it at that.

It was not a good start to our two week's of preparation before playing DII's #2 ranked Busto Arsizio Blue Storms (7-0) on the road on May 26th.

We did have a GREAT post-
practice salami, bread and beer
fest after practice though!

Our Skorpions wanted to celebrate Player/Coach Bumba's stellar return to the field and Gianluca Arena's first career TD pass.

It was fun to see the Skorpions celebrate their comrades achievements in Cagliari but we really must put that game way behind us . . .

NOW!
