A Busy Day

Wednesday, March 20, 2024

I took care of several small projects today that had been on the back burner for some time.

Nothing like the trip to getting your car smog tested in order to renew your car's registration followed by a visit to the Automobile Club of Southern California to get both of our cars re-registered.

The total cost of one smog test and two vehicle registrations was $428.11, wonderful . . .

In going over the photos of Jacob's middle school soccer photos from yesterday's game I was reminded of a key fact.

Both Kevin and Jacob play soccer for their 6th-7th-8th grade teams. Since they are both 6th graders, they are among the youngest players on the team.

At times, the difference in maturity levels between athletes ages 11 to 14 can be great.

See what I mean?

This is an extreme case but I'm guessing that Jacob's Las Colinas teammate in white may be an 8th grader while the Cabrillo player that he is marking in blue is probably a 6th grader.

It is these hormonal/maturity differences that makes both Kevin's and Jacob's time on the field in their games even more impressive to me.

Much of today was spent working
on yet another 50 year reunion

For the third straight year, I am in charge of organizing a 50 year reunion for another Thousand Oaks H.S. Marmonte League Championship team, his one from 1974.

Our 1972 and 1973 T.O.H.S. teams had also won Marmonte League Championships and we had great reunions with each team before the Lancers season home openers the last two years.

This year's reunion will take place on Friday, August 23rd before the El Modena Vanguards play the Thousand Oaks Lancers.

It should be fun again this coming August.

I'm OK with this signing after all

Jimmy G is slated to be Matthew Stafford's backup. I think that he will be at least as good if not better than most NFL club's #2 QBs.

A good hire.

UCLA's move to the BIG-10 this
Fall brings traditional mid-west
teams Indiana, Minnesota and Iowa
to the Rose Bowl for games

No Michigan, Ohio State or PennState at home which would have been much more attractive.

Our old French team, the Bron-Villeurbanne
Falcons host the Chambéry Aigles on Sunday

The Barcelona Dragons will be playing
their ELF games in Badalona this Summer

True

Even if our Head Football Coach bolted for Alabama and our Athletic Director moved to Nebraska not to mention that our Men's Basketball Coach was fired recently.

It is not all Sugar Bowls and CFP Championship Games if you are a Dawgs' fan.

Reading Is FUNdamental

If you're a Sherlock Holmes fan,
you'll like it, if not, it may only be so-so

I'm a big fan of all the incarnations by various authors and movies about the great 221b Baker Street sleuth.

Except, of course, for Will Ferrell's ridiculous 2018 "Holmes & Watson" movie version.
