The morning's top priority was to go out and search for an inexpensive printer to use in the apartment.
It sounded easy but was not as in all of my travels throughout the city of Gijón, I had not seen a store selling printers.
Before this search started, I needed to go to the market to fill the pantry as Saturday will be a huge travel day to and from Madrid for our game and on Sunday the market closest to us is closed.
The crabs looked good but I
did not purchase any
It would feel as if my morning walk
took me to most of the Celtic world
Damn!
I missed a Cuban music fiesta at this club just down the street last Friday night that started at 11:30 p.m. and ended at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
A Cuban related work of
transportation art at the same club
Could it be?
Has former Varese Skorpion NT
Andrea Gorini opened a new restaurante
in Gijón modeled after his Bellavita Café?
Nope.
I needed a cafe con leche and
the one served here was GREAT!
Gijón has no tolerance for
violence to women!
I wondered of this old building's history
PETA is not a big thing in Spain
A school building
Iglesia de San Lorenzo looking good
Still no printer store in sight.
NO!

The spot where we dined after
practice last night
Across the street was a store selling Canon printers, perfect!
I would return a little later to buy one, now if I can just get it to work.
Ballbreakers,
a fine selling point

They were closed but Mexican food
sounded really good to me today
Toro in Spanish means Bull
Fittingly, it is located across the street from . . .
. . . El Bibio
Gijón's Bullfighting Arena
The fence is no longer considered to be state-of-the-art.
Mandatory bull's head
The arena is built in the
Neo-Mudéjar architectural style
This bull ring was opened in 1888 but the corrida culture has been under attack for years now. Many bull rings throughout Spain no longer host bull fights.
Gijón's El Bibio still hosts La Fiesta Brava events in the Summer months.
Iglesia de la Asunción - Juan XXIII
It had a nice rosette window
I liked the church's angel too
Attempts at entering it were futile as it was closed for the day.
A Queso Cabrales shop located
on Calle Cabrales
Ever so tempting but I was strong for once.

He struck me as the Asturian Ray Charles.
In a small alleyway near the
apartment, I found this Mexican
Cantina called Aguila O Sol
I passed on a big lunch and . . .
. . . opted instead for the Taco and
the Caña special for only 3.50 Euros
The street taco was authentic and the caña was ice cold, GOOD TIMES!
Taco Tuesday is back in play.

The Ruta Via de la Plata is another
cultural and touristic walking path
It runs in a North-South direction in Spain for over 1,000 kilometers and starts or ends, depending on which way you travel, here in Gijón.
In the evening we held a well attended walk-through practice for 45 minutes at our normal practice facility. The team was well focused on the daunting task at hand vs. the Las Rozas Black Demons tomorrow night in Madrid.
We are solid underdogs according to the Las Vegas bookies, but we will play the game and see what happens.
