Three Mariner Practice Tuesday

Tuesday, January 14, 2025
I woke up early to see how the Los Angeles did in their NFL Wild Card playoff game last night.

It was a big one against a
good Minnesota Vikings club

Goodness gracious,
they won easily!

On to Philadelphia to play
the Eagles in a Divisional contest

Two more wins needed to get
to the Super Bowl

The Rams started the season 1-4,
AMAZING turnaround

When I finally left the apartment, it was . . .

. . . COLD!

This time and temperature sign is about 100 meters from my front door. That is 2° Centigrade, about 35.6° Fahrenheit, BRRR!

Interesting advertisement at
a nearby bus stop

"Put on your boots and gloves!"

That sounded good to me this chilly morning.

Uh-Oh . . .

I stepped in to have some

My Mother would have loved
to see this latest copy of her favorite
Spanish magazine

At last my churros and chocolate
arrived with a café con leche chaser

Solid looking building

Another book store

Laurie will be happy to know
that this fine store is in Gijón

Not so Politically Correct in Mexico

On the right is another chocolate
and churros shop that looks worth
a visit some time soon

It is next to the Mercado del Sur where I planned to stop next.

Jamón for sale

Sea urchins at the top

Fish are just so darn interesting

Guide to how to tell if a
fish is fresh or not

One last look at the TALL
chimney near our abode

I boarded the #1 Bus for the ride to our practice field for three practices tonight.

The Universidad Laboral de Gijón

It is the biggest building in all of Spain and sits next to several sports fields . . .

. . . including a baseball diamond

Practice #1, 5:00 p.m.,
Youth Flag Practice

I watched this one as Flag Coach Daniel Casteñon put then through their paces.

The Sun setting just as . . .

. . . parts of the Junior team warmed
up for their flag practice #2 at 6:30 p.m.

At 8:00 p.m., we started our Senior practice that lasted until 10:25 p.m.

The players were quite receptive to improving their techniques in an attempt to fix some of the problems that we had in last Saturday's game.

I was proud of their effort.

When I got into the car belonging to Juan Carlos, one of our Offensive Linemen, after practice for the ride home, his car's instrument panel said that it was -5°C/23°F outside.

I believed it completely.

Tomorrow is my first travel day, I'm off to Oviedo.

Stay tuned . . .
