A Long Drive Home from Las Vegas and a BIG American Football Weekend

Friday, January 11 - Sunday, January 13, 2019

We departed Las Vegas with a bit of a heavier heart than usual knowing that it would be a long time before we would see Jenn, Andy and Kevin again.

I fly to Italy next Thursday and am not scheduled to return until mid-July, how much bigger, smarter and funnier will Kevin be when I get back?

Kevin and Andy

It is so gratifying to see how Andy and Jenn interact in raising Kevin and how much love and caring is in their home.

After seeing Kevin off to another day of first grade, we started our five hour drive back to Camarillo but with a few stops in-between.

Look who we found crawling
around our Eddie World pit stop
in BEAUTIFUL Yermo, California

Why it was none other than Rocco the Skorpion, the newest member of our family!

On to San Marino, California to our ancestral home to visit . . .

. . . my 94 year old mother, Chuny

She is still plugging away and we had another good visit with her.

On Saturday, I finally started preparing for my return to Varese and our beloved Skorpions.

First stop was the Automobile Club
of Southern California

I needed to purchase an International Driving Permit and get yet another free book about "The Boot".

Of course, I could not go full steam ahead on my preparation ideas with two NFL Divisional Playoff games to watch today as well.

 Italian meets NFL for lunch

Dario D'Adelfio, recently voted Sicily's Man-of-the-Year, would be happy with my dining choice.

Laurie would be rooting for her
old team, the Kansas City Chiefs,
in the day's first game

Good call Laurie!

AFC Final Score:
Kansas City Chiefs (13-4) 31
Indianaplois Colts (11-7) 13

While the Chiefs-Colts game progressed, Jacob and Mary opened up belated Christmas gifts from the Las Vegas half of the family.

ATTACK!

Laser Tag throughout the
rest of the day was fun

 Mary loved her new doll!

from Rocco's dangerous stinger

It took awhile to build this city . . .

. . . but only a second for a
hurricane to destroy it!

Finally, it was time for the
Main Event!

Dallas Cowboys (11-6)
at
Los Angeles Rams (13-3)

We would need a legendary effort
by our Ram running backs today

 The Defense would also need
to recall a legendary performance

DE Jack Youngblood once played in
a Super Bowl with a broken leg

Jacob is wearing what's left of Mike's original #85 jersey from the early 1980s.

It was a rip snorter of a Rams' win with C.J. Anderson rushing for 123 yards and two TDs.

Todd Gurley added another 115 rushing yards and a TD as the Rams won their first playoff game in 14 years.

NFC Final Score:
Los Angeles Rams (14-3) 30
Dallas Cowboys (11-7) 22

Jacob celebrated the Rams
win with a Victory Cookie!
