The Day Before the National Championship Game

Sunday, January 7, 2024
First things first, I tested negative for COVID-19 today! The wonder drug Paxlovid did its job in just five days as advertised.

I'm now free to see the outside world once again. YAHOO!

The net was even busier today with all sorts of colorful memes and photos about the Washington vs. Michigan National Championship Game on Monday night.

Let's take a look at the ones that I thought were of interest.

One More Day!

Basic but On Point

This will be the 14th all-time meeting
between the Huskies and Wolverines

Michigan currently leads this series with Washington that started in 1953, 8-5.

The Huskies will be wearing
these uniforms on Monday

A Washington win would give the Huskies their third National Championship in the football program's history.

1960 UW National Championship Team
10 Wins - 1 Loss
AAWU and Rose Bowl Champions

1991 UW National Championship Team
12 Wins - 0 Losses
PAC-10 and Rose Bowl Champions

"Mighty are the men who wear the Purple and the Gold . . ."

A third National Title would be SWEET!

As would be a 15-0 season!

But it should be, pardon the pun,
a real dog fight!

Now, as to that 13 game history between the two schools . . .

1953 Michigan 50-0, in Ann Arbor
1954 Michigan 14-0, in Seattle
1969 Michigan 45-7, in Ann Arbor
1970 Michigan 17-3, in Seattle

The Huskies started out losing these first four games in the series by a combined score of 126-10. Not good.

1978 Washington 27-20, Rose Bowl
1981 Michigan 23-6, Rose Bowl
1983 Washington 25-24, in Seattle
1984 Washington 20-11, in Ann Arbor

Going 3-1 in these next four games was much better!

1992 Washington 34-14, Rose Bowl
1993 Michigan 31-28, Rose Bowl

Big-10 vs. PAC-8/10/12 games in Pasadena's Rose Bowl were always competitive and fun to attend.

2001 Washington 23-18, in Seattle
2002 Michigan 31-29, in Ann Arbor

Another pair of hard fought games continued to make this series a great one after those long ago first four Wolverines drubbings of the Huskies.

2021 Michigan 31-10, in Ann Arbor

Which brings us to the 2024 National Championship Game in Houston, Texas.

GO HUSKIES!

Of course, many of the net memes dealt with Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh's shady dealings.

Clever

The Sign Stealing issue that . . .

. . . that just won't go away

I'm liking the "Ted Bowl" angle

SURPRISE!
Brutus Buckeye is a Husky Fan

Who knew?

I did NOT like this one

The NCAA needs to check on the
possible Wolverines steroid usage

There are claws and THEN THERE ARE CLAWS!

All of Seattle is bathed
in Purple this week

Key players and coach on the
drive to the title

QB Micheal Penix, Jr. needs
to be his usual dominating self
on Monday

If Penix is on, THEN YES!

You know, if Penix is found to be bionic,
it would explain a lot about this season

Toy with the Wolverines first before
blowing them out by the usual
two or three points . . .

Yes, it would be a Purple Reign . . .

. . . if Michigan does
"BOW DOWN TO WASHINGTON!"

The NFL was playing their last regular season games of the 2023 season today.

A good game to end the season

Many key players on both sides were sitting this one out so as not to risk unnecessary injury before both teams head to the playoffs.

About the history of the Cleveland, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Los Angeles Rams logo . . .

I still love the 1948-1971 Rams logo

Which do you like best?

Another Rams blowout,
NEVER IN DOUBT!

The Rams ended the regular season with a record 0f 10-7, second place in the NFC West Division to the 12-5 San Francisco 49ers. The Rams are also the #6 seed in the NFC playoffs.

Not bad for a team most pundits picked pre-season to have a solid chance at the 2024 NFL Draft's top pick expected to be USC QB Caleb Williams.

#6 Los Angeles Rams (10-7) at
#3 Detroit Lions (12-5)

Lots of good back stories in this playoff game starting with the two QBs, Rams Matthew Stafford and Lions Jared Goff, who were once traded to for each other.

From 32 teams, the NFL is
now down to 14 left standing

Stomping the 49ers today was fun

The two teams have now played 150 regular and post-season games since first meeting on October 1, 1950.

After today's Rams win, the 49ers still
own the 150 game series lead 78-69-3

Finally . . .

As Laurie might say,
this is ever so true!
