Football Odds and Ends

Sun. & Mon., Nov. 12-13, 2023

The BIG DEAL of the past two days was the Camarillo Sophomore Stingers season ending pizza party held at the Roxy Theater.

DE/CB/Long Snapper/TE/WR
#99 Jacob Contreras

As always, Jacob had lots of fun tonight bonding with his football buddies one more time.

By all accounts, he really likes playing football and is determined to improve his skills during the off-season.

I might be a tad biased, but I truly enjoy watching him play our shared sport of choice.

The #5 Washington Huskies (10-0) play
at the #10 Oregon State Beavers (8-2)
on Saturday

I am greatly concerned, especially if we have more brain farts like . . .

. . . this one from last Saturday's
game against Utah

Chapman Panthers (6-3)
SCIAC Champions
at
Whitworth Pirates (9-0)
Northwest Conference Champions

This will be an opening round game in the 32 team NCAA DIII National Championship Tournament.

These two championship teams met back on September 16th at Chapman. The Pirates beat the Panthers 24-7 that afternoon.

Of course, such an all inclusive tournament is almost completely impossible at the NCAA DI level.

Texas A&M Coach Jimbo Fisher
got fired on Sunday

Texas A&M boosters ponied up the $77,600,000 to buy him out.

I just hope that Coach Fisher can somehow survive on this pittance for the next few months . . .

Another close game in Spain's
Copa de España pre-season tournament

The Copa de España started with ten
teams, now only four remain

I saw some interesting results from this past weekends Italian Under 15 tackle football league.

The first five games listed ranged from close to competitive to routine rout.

Then I saw the sixth and final score

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!

The Rhinos Milano (3-1) defeated the Giaguari Torino (3-1) in Milano.

It was a revenge game for the Rhinos as the first time these two U15 clubs met on October 14th in Torino, the Giaguari beat them, 88-74.

Again, dare I say it, HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, CAN ANYBODY PLAY DEFENSE!

A team scores 74 points and losses . . .

American Football is growing . . .

. . . all over the world

The Rams added a veteran QB to the
roster in case Matthew Stafford's
injured thumb forces him to the sidelines

I know that this was a non-conference
wrestling affair but . . .

Could the once proud UW Huskies Wrestling program return in the near future with the move to the BIG-10 next year?

I sincerely hope so.

Laurie and my Grandmother were
proponents of the Mama friendly
Weapons of Mass Destruction

Tomorrow is, once again,
TACO TUESDAY!

But I wouldn't say NO
to an old fashioned
Bob's Big Boy Burger Combo

I am, after all, a big believer in trying all sorts of diverse cultural cuisine experiences that I come across.
