It was a rainy Friday on Camarillo, a perfect day to stay indoors and come up with weird things to think about when one has too much time on their hands.
Which I do.
So I started ruminating about
the many colleges at all levels
that play football . . .
. . . a bit easier to read map of
many, not all, FBS and FCS schools
Thus spurred on, I decided to see how many schools I had seen play at their home fields and which bowl games I'd attended.

I've attended the Fiesta, Freedom, Holiday, Las Vegas and Rose Bowls more than once and have found all ten venues to have been a real treat.
My first ever bowl game was the 1960 Crusader Bowl held at Occidental College between Oregon's George Fox College Bruins and the Los Angeles Pacific College Panthers.
The reason for going to that one and only Crusader Bowl has been lost to both the sands of time and my failing memory.
By the way, due to financial problems, L.A. Pacific merged with Azusa College in 1965 creating the new Azusa Pacific University Cougars.
I also should mention attending three PAC-12 Championship games, two at the San Francisco 49ers Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara and one at the Las Vegas Raiders Allegiant Stadium.
Getting away from football for just a moment . . .
This morning, we took Mary and Jacob to school as usual only to find that Mary had a new hairdo.
But what was in those four clumps?
A pretzel shaped cookie and an Oreo up
front and two sugar cookies in the back
I don't think that they were real.
Were they?
In the evening, it was time to go to what would be my 61st football game of the 2025 calendar year, and a high school playoff game to boot!
It was a C.I.F.-Southern Section
Division VI Quarterfinal Game
It was a rematch of a Channel League game played five weeks ago at Moorpark (10-1) that saw Ventura (9-2) hand the Musketeers their only loss of the season, 34-23, in what was for all purposes, the de facto Channel League Championship game.

But first we had to attend one of Brett Phillips' infamous Ventura H.S. pre-game tailgate parties at his home just a few blocks from Ventura H.S.'s Larrabee Stadium. Brett's son, Tristan, is a standout Senior LB for the Cougars who has accepted a scholarship to play for the Oregon Ducks next Fall.

It went from being a good to a great game with some Red Zone heroics by the Cougars Defense late in the Fourth Quarter.
The Channel League Champion Cougars will play in the C.I.F.-Southern Section Division VI Semifinals next Friday on the road against the Tri-County League Champion Agoura Chargers (10-2).
The Chargers defeated the Orange Vista Coyotes (10-2) tonight 27-26 in Overtime.
Six Ventura County area teams advanced
to their Division Semifinals tonight
Those six are Pacifica (12-0) in DIII, Oaks Christian (6-6) in DIV, Ventura (10-2) and Agoura (10-2) in DVI, and Grace (9-3) and Santa Paula (7-5) in DXII.
While we were watching the Moorpark-Ventura game our new found friends at Clemson were playing.
