A Travel Monday, Chile to Argentina

Monday, November 11, 2024

First and foremost on this Monday . . .

THANK YOU to Paul Sabolić and to
all of you who have proudly served
our country in our armed forces

And a heartfelt CHEERS to absent friends.

I need to proffer a few final notes from our three days in Santiago de Chile.

First of all, the people of Chile

We found Chileans to be an extremely polite, respectful and caring bunch.

They are proud of their country, take great pains to be ecologically minded and have created a truly marvelous, amazing and thoroughly clean and modern capital city that surprised us at every turn.

Was that Chuck Manson on this
cross atop Cerro San Cristóbal?

Whack-a-Mole ala Brian FitzGerald's
visual art skills on display at the
Concha y Toro winery

I would look SO GOOD with this
avant-garde hair style!

Yes, we LOVED our time in
Santiago de Chile

It was time to go . . .

. . . but not before one more
outstanding breakfast at this spot

Santiago de Chile's International
Airport is named after Chile's
aviation pioneer

We needed more sustenance
before our two hour flight to
Buenos Aires, Argentina

PERFECT!

Juan Valdez is Colombian not Chilean

Our flight was on time

Truth in Packaging

Those two black octagons on the lower right alerted us that the contents were "High in Sugars" and "High in Calories."

Of course I bought one for the flight.

Grandson Jacob has a theory, a city is not a REAL city unless it has a McDonalds.

Thus, Santiago's airport is a
REAL airport

We scored massive leg room on
our plane bound for Buenos Aires
in the emergency exit row,
YAHOO!

The airport in Buenos Aires is
a REAL airport too!

We have decidedly NOT eaten at a McDonalds so far in our Adventure.

The drive to our Vrbo apartment was smooth with talkative Christina driving our taxi.

We did hit some trouble trying to check in but after about a 40-minute delay we were in our shared home for the next week.

We were both hungry and in need of some exercise after sitting for most of the day in cabs, at the airport and on a plane.

A couple sitting in the lounge area of our apartment complex steered us to a small street just two blocks away that offered a variety of dining options.

We were off!

More of the same mural

The aromas emanating from this
Parrilla were simply overwhelming

The word parrilla means "Grilled" and is the quintessential way of life in Argentine cuisine.

The ladies became even happier . . .

. . . when this fine Argentine
pinot noir arrived at our table

Interesting shadow

Interesting colorful shadow

PARRILLA!

"If they grill it, I will come."

As it turns out, Argentina is famous for their grilled meat. Who knew?

The four of us shared what you see in the photo above.

It was SO good for us!

All that we needed now was a gelato
to cap off another wonderful meal,
EUREKA!

Lucciano's was just a few doors down from our El Estanciero Parrilla.

We simply MUST endeavor to
do better on Tuesday

Stay tuned for updates from Buenos Aires . . .
