Game #2 of the Pop Warner season was upon us, so we drove 35 minutes to Simi Valley H.S. in support of grandson Jacob and his team of Stingers on another hot afternoon.
The Gold Coast Youth Football League
fields a whopping 15 teams in their
Junior American Conference
The Stingers Blue squad entered
the game with a 1-0 record
As this was the Bulldogs Orange
team's first game, quite naturally,
their record was 0-0
The Bulldogs, in black, had a strong
showing on Offense to start the game
This Simi Valley lateral swing play
caused the Stingers issues for most
of the First Half
The Trenches were as hot
as the weather
Simi Valley spread the field
The Camarillo Cheerleaders were
great despite the Stingers early troubles
Off in the distance, a McDonalds sign
I digress but, according the Jacob's theory, it is absolute proof that Simi Valley is a city.

On this Fourth Down play, the Simi Valley runner was tackled at the one yard line.

It was a struggle but the team did
achieve the first goal in these
situations, give the Punt Team enough
room to operate normally

Camarillo turned the game around late in Second Quarter with two fantastic Defensive plays on back-to-back Bulldog possessions.
I have mentioned that Simi Valley's lateral pass had caused the Stingers all sorts of aggravation. That pestering ended when a Camarillo DE intercepted the lateral and ran it in for a TD.
On the next series, a Stingers DB intercepted a pass and also turned it into a second Camarillo Pick-Six!

The first Offensive play of the Third
Quarter was a big one for Camarillo
It was a 60 yard TD run with most
of Simi Valley chasing the Stingers

Great Kickoff coverage left the
Bulldogs deep in their end of the field
Camarillo's Defense was playing
with relentless passion

The HOT Pursuit by the Stingers continued
Camarillo knocking on the
door yet again
The only TD of this quarter was set up by a Stinger who blocked a Simi Valley punt.

While waiting for our food, I went
through one of Mary's rigorous
job interviews for her new company
I didn't get the job.
Laurie, Vanessa and Mary

We all did come to think of it.
Next up for the Stingers (2-0) is another road game, this time at Buena H.S. against the Ventura Packers White (0-1) team. The kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
