Mary Turns 10

Sat.-Mon., July 19-21, 2025

On Saturday, we assembled at Michael and Vanessa's home to celebrate a milestone.

Our little girl Mary is about to
turn TEN YEARS OLD!

While her actual birthday occurs later this week, Saturday night offered an easier time for her immediate family to gather and spoil her.

After pizza and dessert, we moved
to the back yard for a birthday
movie al fresco

The Goonies was the perfect call

Hard to believe that this cult classic film came out 40 years ago in 1985.

The only person to fall asleep during the movie was Mary.

Mary was asleep when we first
saw her too back in 2015

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARY!

On Sunday, I followed up on a friend's request to look at three properties in Camarillo's burned out area that they were looking to perhaps purchase and build a new home upon.

The Mountain Fire as it was called, occurred the first week of November, 2024 and destroyed over 200 homes in the Camarillo area completely devastating the lives of many of our friends and neighbors.

This marked the first time that I had entered the main burn area now that the debris had been cleared and the experts had declared that any and all of the potentially toxic waste had been removed.

Desolate hillsides were to be expected

The first property that I visited
was on a steep hillside with only
some concrete foundations still in tact

Across the arroyo, more burned
vegetation and more vacant lots

The crazy thing is seeing homes still standing in this area seemingly untouched next to four or five vacant lots of former homes like the one I was standing on as I took these photos.

So much for the automatic
gate electronics that once
provided security in these parts

This random lack of destruction was all over these hills. Strange.

News from the net . . .

European League of Football
Week #10 Results

To summarize these results, we had two close games decided by less than nine points.

There were three competitive games decided by 10 to 19 points.

One contest was somewhat competitive with a final point differential in the 20 to 29 point range.

Finally there were two blowouts, i.e., games won by 30 points or more. Those two were the Frankfurt Galaxies' (4-5) 64 point thrashing of the Cologne Centurions (0-9) and the Madrid Bravos (6-3) 55 point throttling of the Helvetic Mercenaries (0-8).

Overall, a typical ELF week of competition.

"Houston, we have a problem"

With only three weeks left in the regular season, there are still three ELF clubs without a win.

The Cologne Centurions and the Budapest's Fehérvár Enthroners are both 0-9 while Zurich's Helvetic Mercenaries are 0-8.

Besides their final three games still to be contested, the Mercenaries still have a makeup game to play against Copenhagen's Norcic Storm (8-0).

Realistically as the Centurions, Enthroners and Mercenaries do not play each other this season, there is a real chance for the ELF to finish the 2025 season with three 0-12 clubs.

Not a good look.

Tentative for sure as the #4, #5
and #6 seeds are still up for grabs

Can one of the three bottom
feeders get a win this week?

The Fehérvár Enthroners (0-9) host the Vienna Vikings (8-1).

Not likely at all.

The Cologne Centurions (0-9) will be on the road against the Paris Musketeers (5-4).

I'm not liking these odds either.

The Prague Lions (5-4) will play in Switzerland against the Helvetic Mercenaries (0-8).

Doubtful as well.

Finally, with tomorrow being Taco Tuesday . . .

Oh, HELL YES!
