Mon.-Thurs., August 19-22, 2024
We enjoyed a busy few days leading up to the first big weekend of football in Ventura County.
On Tuesday, Jacob and I were given a task to accomplish.
Jacob in the Thousand Oaks H.S.
Field House/Weight Room
Back in my days coaching at T.O.H.S. from 1970-1977, the Field House was our Locker Room.
A tribute in the Weight Room to one
of the coaches who was a guiding
light to at least this young coach
over a half century ago
The task that we were assigned was to pick up surplus equipment that teams in Europe needed desperately.
We picked up a few helmets . . .
. . . and over 350 jerseys and pants
to help the greater EuroBall cause
THANK YOU LANCERS!
Tuesday night, Jacob practicing
his Long Snapping skills
It's all about the rotation
On to agility drills
On Wednesday, Mary, Michael
and Jacob posing for their annual
First Day of School photo
Thursday saw Jacob sporting
a St. Francis H.S. t-shirt
Because he had practice that evening he could not join us at the St. Francis game that night but was still in full support for my alma mater.
Jacob's Camarillo Stingers Junior Pop Warner football team opens their 2024 season on Saturday against the Santa Barbara Saints at Santa Barbara City College's beautiful La Playa Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 Noon.

Laurie took this picture of me
with long time friend Terry Terrazone
and football junkie Mike Sanders
at the St. Francis game on Thursday
St. Bonaventure (1-0) was superb in handing St. Francis (0-1) a 38-7 defeat.
Meanwhile, in Finland . . .
Oops, the high flying Helsinki Roosters
lost their final regular season game
With the #1 playoff seed already in hand, the Roosters rested many of their key players and paid the price.
Regardless, the Roosters are still
the Maple League's top seed going
into the playoffs next week
Yes, Laurie, "Shout Out" to you
