No Rest for the Wicked . . .

Wednesday, November 6 -
Monday, November 11, 2019

Life continues to fill our days with lots of joyful occasions, and that's a GOOD THING!

Mary enjoyed a Happy Meal
to the fullest at McDonald's
Wednesday after school

"I'll never be your beast of burden . . ."

The Rolling Stoners obviously did not have grandchildren in mind when they sang these lyrics back in the day.

Why are all of these kids at
Topper's Pizza in Camarillo
on as Wednesday night?

Ah, it was awards night to wrap up
the 2019 Sharks soccer team!

Here we see Jacob with his forever patient Coach.

The 2019 Sharks one last time

On Friday, after a half day of school,
Jacob took off for the Moon from the
McDonalds Space Launch facility
in Thousand Oaks

He landed at the Ronald Reagan
Presidential Library in Simi Valley,
California front of a piece of the
old Berlin Wall

President Reagan had been instrumental in getting the Berlin Wall torn down exactly 30 years ago on this very day.

Ron and Nancy Reagan with Jacob

The Reagan Library had a Special Exhibit on Egyptian artifacts that had peaked Jacob's interest as well as its usual tribute to America's 40th President.

Egyptian god impression

"Hey Poppo, what does this say?"

"Look Poppo and Egyptian time machine!"

Sure Jacob, why not?

LOVE that beard!

More of the Berlin Wall

Jacob seemed to really enjoy what he saw in the Egyptian Exhibit, now it was time to check out this Reagan fellow.

In his youth, Ronald Reagan was
a radio sports announcer

Here, Jacob recreates Reagan's radio coverage of a 1935 Chicago Cubs vs. Detroit Tigers World Series game.

After our visit to the Reagan Library, we joined up with son Michael to attend a C.I.F. first round playoff game.

The St. Bonaventure Seraphs (5-4) at
the Oxnard Yellowjackets (9-1)

The Seraphs were the fourth place team in the Marmonte League while the Yellowjackets were the Champions of the Pacific View League.

I was up in the Press Box across the field doing the color commentary of the Ventura County Star's podcast of the game while Mike and Jacob were on the field.

ability to speak Italian

Halftime Fireworks!

Because of last weekend's wild fires in Ventura County, Oxnard's Homecoming Game against Buena H.S. and Senior Night has to be postponed as the game was moved to Nordhoff H.S. in Ojai at the last moment.

St. Bonaventure agreed to having tonight's playoff game serve as Oxnard's Homecoming Game and Senior Night.

Quite unusual, but a good gesture on the Seraph's part.

Mike and Jacob enjoying a
BEAUTIFUL NIGHT FOR
AMERICAN FOOTBALL!

It was a close, see saw battle for the first three quarters as Oxnard only led 13-6 going into the final stanza.

A dominating Yellowjackets fourth quarter moved Oxnard into the playoff quarter-finals by virtue of their 45-13 victory over the Seraphs.

The now 10-1 Yellowjackets will travel to San Bernardino this coming Friday to play the 9-2 Aquinas Falcons, the Champions of the Ambassador League.

On Saturday night, Laurie and I
headed over to Moorpark College
to watch a Junior College game

The Bakersfield College Renegades (2-6) were in town to take on the Moorpark College Raiders (1-7).

These two traditionally strong JC programs have fallen on hard times to say the least.

With long time friends
Joanne and Paul Sabolic

Their son Jason is the Moorpark College Offensive Line Coach.

Paul and Joanne are a great couple who are always fun to see!

As it is Veteran's Weekend, I would be remiss if I did not thank Paul for his service overseas in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

THANK YOU PAUL!

While it was a good night for us
visiting with the Joanne and Paul . . .

It was not a good night for Moorpark College as the Raiders lost another one, this time losing to the Renegades by a score of 38-18.

On Sunday we celebrated a
40th Birthday with Aquaman
for family friend Cyndy Murphy

Before Cyndy arrived at Camarillo's Wine Closet for her surprise party, many of the ladies were clamoring for a photo with Aquaman for some unknown reason.

With Tim Murphy, his sister and
birthday girl Cyndy and her
fiancé Juice Cabrera

Good Times!

Meanwhile, back in Varese on Sunday . . .

Our Varese Skorpion U16 team continued
to roll with an easy win over the

EUROPE WARRIORS NEWS

Our game against the Austrian
U18 National Team in Vienna
is fast approaching!

I head overseas this coming Friday and will spend three days in London sightseeing and recovering from any jet lag before flying to Vienna next Tuesday.

I love the posters that the Warriors create to promote our players and coaches.

Let's take a look at our latest Europe Warrior posts of coaching staff posters.

 One of the Europe Warriors
co-founders and also the
Head Coach of Barcelona Spain's
L'Hospitalet Pioners

Bart is one of the really good guys in EuroBall that I highly respect.

I coached in Spain against his DII National Championship Reus Imperials in 2015 and with him in our previous three Europe Warriors games in Mexico.

Bart was also the mover and shaker that brought the NFL Chicago Bears coaching staff to Varese for last Summer's two-day Venom Camp.

I'm also looking forward to meeting and coaching with these next three coaches for the first time.

Gianluca is also the DC of the 2019
Italian DII Milano Rhinos

Kyle is the WR Coach for the Swarco Raiders
who were the 2019 Champions of Austria
and are a perennial EuroBall powerhouse

Alessio is the Offensive Coordinator of
the Potsdam Royals who play in arguably
EuroBall's toughest league,
Germany's GFL1 Conference
