A Summer Cold in December

Thursday, December 20 and Friday, December 21, 2018

Just when I was having all sorts of fun on Maui, a Summer cold hit me in December.

Thus all of Thursday and most of Friday was dedicated to staying in bed and reading.

On Friday morning I tried to rally a bit with a walk on shore.

I was instantly reminded that
Christmas is just a few days away

The Pacific Ocean was calm

The sunrise was idyllic

It was going to be a good day

A lone paddle boarder on a quiet morning

While the others of our party enjoyed beach/pool/shopping time during these last two days of our shared vacation, I was back in the sack after my morning walk.

In the evening, I rallied in time for the drive UpCountry for one of Maui's rotating Friday night Town Parties.

This Friday it was Makawao's
turn to host the town party

These Maui Town Parties run from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every Friday with five different villages hosting them on a fixed, rotating basis. The host on each third Friday of the month is Makawao, so away we went!

We found that all of Makawao's shops were open and that their Main Street had been blocked off to allow only pedestrian traffic on Town Party night,.

 Interesting and only $2,300 USD

Main Street Makawao had some great
vintage autos and trucks one display

I liked this purple truck for some reason
GO HUSKIES!

There was some good music
to be had as well

These local carolers were
all spiffed up for the Town Party

Let's take a listen to
one of their tunes

So ended an overall splendid week in Maui with the Johnsons. We will all head home to Seattle and Camarillo on Saturday refreshed and energized for Christmas, New Years and the Rose Bowl.

Thank you Mark and Susie for a fun week!
