After a good night's sleep in our quant McBee Cottage in Cannon Beach on the gorgeous northern Oregon Coast, we were ready for more adventure!
We were informed by our son Michael that Cannon Beach was the site where the 1985 comedy classic, Goonies, was filmed.
We did not know that.
Of course, a wise traveler knows
to start their road trip with a
solid breakfast
This Cannon Beach eatery offered a fine bacon and Tillamook cheese omelet to send us on our merry way to southern Oregon's Rogue Valley.

three benches out front
Democrats on the left, Republicans on the right and, I suppose, undeclared Independents on the middle one.
Shouldn't the Democrats bench sign have been blue though?

. . . the SPECTACULAR Oregon Coast
I love a hint of danger
to spice up our drive
After traveling along Oregon's coastal Highway 101 for about 90 minutes, we cut inland to reconnect to Interstate 5 to facilitate the drive to our destination city for the night, Ashland, Oregon.
This portion of our drive took us
through rich farm land a serene meadows
Population: 56,472
We decided to stop in this Willamette Valley community for a wee stretch of the legs and perhaps a small item to meet our dietary needs for the afternoon.

I saw lots of wonderful shirts that I wanted to take home but they apparently discriminate against plus sized men.

This was really a fine store, I'm glad that we took the time to browse in it.

We had a decision to make, which of their delicious looking cheesecakes should we order?
We agreed that their Salted Caramel was the right call.
OH MY GOD!
We concurred that this may have been the best cheesecake that we have ever eaten!
Dietary needs declared that we would share this one slice and given its richness, it was the right call.
Beloved Cheesecakes has our votes for the Willamette Valley's Best Dessert for a sixth straight year hands down!

Ashland is the home of both Southern Oregon University and the annual Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF).
Ashland is hosting the OSF's 90th annual series of plays.
I always thought that, as the festival's name implies, that they only acted out The Bard's wonderful plays.
I was wrong.
This year's 90th OSF is performing a total of nine plays from March to October. Only three of them were written by William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar, As You Like It, and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
We had purchased tickets for tonight's performance of the rollicking musical, Into the Woods. The music and lyrics were by Stephen Sondheim from the book of the same name by James Lapine.
We found our hotel easily and had just enough time for a quick dinner before the curtain went up at the Allen Elizabethan Theater where our play was set to start at 8:00 p.m.
Well darn if we weren't south
of the 45th Parallel and it was . . .
. . . TACO TUESDAY!
A perfect meal before a night at the theater if you ask me.

all of us on a fine night for the arts

We had a tremendous time sitting out under the stars and enjoying this fine performance.
We now wish that we had more time to enjoy more of the wonderful plays that are performed at the OSF.
We'll be back for sure!
Tomorrow we will head farther south to Sacramento, the Capital of the Golden State of California and hope the catch a Major League Baseball Game between the hometown A's and the Houston Astros.
